Reconstruction of the Carl Zeiss Factory between 1880 and 1905 in Jena, Germany

This project I have made together with a colleague Lousie Tharandt for a 3D reconstruction competition in Germany between 24th of November 2020 and 18th of January 2020.
Edit 19.02.2021: We have won the competition (see https://modellathon.hypotheses.org/ergebnisse-2).
My colleague does not have an Artstation account, I post mainly my contribution here, which was most of the buildings and texturing work. My colleague contributed some buildings and most of the research and scientific report.

This was the first bigger model for me where I used a Miro-board for the whole organisation of the workflow, references, etc.

Since the industrial buildings are made of similar components I used a modular modelling approach to cut down modelling time by a large number. I tried using Houdini which I'm learning since end of the last year but sadly I'm not ready to use it on a time sensitive project, yet.

The models itself are pretty detailed made with pretty good textures from Quixel. But we decided to cut down the rendering resolution, because you would not see all of these details. Our first plan was to made animations when a buildings is redesigned or got a floor more, but sadly the time was not enough at the end for this,

This is our final result which brought us on the first place of the competition.

This is a plan of Jena around 1905 for later size comparison.

The front building was made by my colleague Lousie Tharandt. Sadly we could not finish our texturing work in time.

Some examples of the modular approach, mainly used for the windows, since there were most of the details.
